Overview

We are a small business actively involved in a diverse range of sensor processing development projects.  The designs are highly configurable, software based for maximum flexibility and reuse.  We specialize in high speed data processing and digital signal processing for high end military sensor systems, including imaging, radar and sonar processors.  We believe in strong team dynamics, job satisfaction, and making each team member successful. Creativity and personal initiative are essential.  We are seeking a talented and motivated Program Manager to manage rapid development Radar programs.

Responsibilities

 

Position Objective:

Ultra Electronics an engineering business actively involved in a diverse range of sensor and radar processing development projects.  We focus on innovative, leading edge systems designs that are highly configurable and adaptable for maximum flexibility and reuse.  We specialize in high speed data processing, digital signal processing, and high end military sensor systems, including imaging, radar and sonar systems.  We believe in strong team dynamics, job satisfaction, and making each team member successful. We are seeking a Project Manager with five to twelve (5-12) years of relevant experience in Project Management lifecycle activities and direct experience with RADAR and U. S. Navy system development. The successful candidate will be able to effectively utilize project management and leadership skills to collaboratively manage assigned technical and administrative teams in defining the project tasks to satisfy contract requirements within schedule and budget constraints.

The candidate must have excellent oral and written skills, possess superb leadership skills, and be able to effectively manage a geographically diverse team.

Qualifications

Responsibilities:

  • Plans, directs, and co-ordinates the team’s activities to manage and implement project and/or interrelated projects from contract/proposal initiation to final operational stage
  • Determines, monitors, and reviews all project economics to include planned budgets, actual and projected costs, staffing requirements, resources, and risks
  • Leads the project team in determining client requirements and translating requirements into operational plans
  • With support of a technical lead, identifies and assembles the appropriate blend of resources to meet project needs and requirements; manages subcontractors
  • Plans, schedules, monitors, and reports on activities related to the project
  • Undertakes status review meetings among project team members and clients
  • Works with management on project proposals, bids, contracts, estimates, and schedules
  • Coaches and advises team members to accomplish project goals, to meet established schedules, and resolve technical/operational issues
  • Establishes appropriate metrics for measuring key project criteria
  • Develops, proposes, and negotiates project proposals, quotations, and add-ons to leadership and the client
  • Analyzes needs and recommends appropriate planning concepts and tools to be used for all facets of planning, scheduling, and tracking projects
  • Analyzes project progress/costs and facilitates the development of recommended alternatives
  • Integrates and uses project management methodologies
  • Creates communication plans, ensuring that appropriate information is exchanged among key stakeholders
  • Advises senior management on project management capability and risk

 

  • Qualifications:
  • Experience with RADAR and U. S. Navy system development and deployment aspects highly desirable
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies
  • Project Management Institute, PMP Certification strongly desired
  • Experience with DoD acquisition approaches highly desirable
  • Past experience leading and managing project teams
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally
  • Experience in tracking and working to contain budgeted projects costs
  • Experience developing preliminary project schedule; tracking project schedules and progress and working to ensure project timelines are met and unnecessary delays are prevented
  • Intermediate or advanced competency in MS Office, including PowerPoint, Project, Excel and SharePoint
  • EVMS knowledge and implementation experience
